It didn’t take long for Event 5 to make it into the money. On the second round of hand-for-hand, Walter Sarmiento was in a three-way pot to a flop. He was in the big blind and led out for 57,000 to get one caller, who left 47,000 behind after the call.
The turn came and Sarmiento asked to see his opponent’s stack. What he saw prompted him to put in a big enough stack to cover and his opponent called at risk.
Sarmiento has to dodge 14 outs, aces and sevens and all the spades, and the river blanked to send his opponent out on the bubble while putting everyone else in the money.
