John Cipriano
It did not take long to pop the money bubble. Once everyone was settled and the rules were issues, there was an all-in called on Table 5 in a snap. An early position player open-shoved for 35,000 and it folded to John Cipriano in the big blind. With 700,000 in his stack, it was an easy call.
Then they sat back and waited for the other four tables to complete their action. One they were done, the hands were tabled.

The race between the money and the break was won by the bubble. With only a few minutes remaining before the color up break, one player went out when his was outflopped by

The clock was paused and they will continue playing hand-for-hand until one player is eliminated with two minutes coming off the clock for each hand. If they break rolls around while still on the bubble, they will continue to play until making the money.

It didn’t take long for the post-dinner field to drop lower and only 52 remain after a level or so. Tournament staff are reconfiguring the tables for nine-handed play and they will be very close to the money, if not in it, by the time they hit another break.

The first tournament of the series had a huge turnout this afternoon. It kicked off at 11 am and by the time registration closed at the start of Level 9, there were 345 entries signed up to completely blast the $30,000 guaranteed prize pool. They more than doubled it and there will be a lot of money awaiting the winner later this evening.
Tournament staff is verifying the numbers and we will post the prize pool and payout information as soon as it is official.

Borgata Poker is closing out the year with a nice five-tournament series, a Deep Stacks Challenge to finish the decade. The series features $160,000 in guaranteed prize money and kicks off with a $200+$30 Deeper Stack tournament this morning at 11 am. Event 1 has a $30,000 guaranteed prize pool and it will draw a great post-holiday crowd.
Players will sit down to 35,000 starting stacks and all levels will last 25 minutes from start to finish. Late registration is available until the start of Level 9 around 3:05 pm with unlimited re-entries available during that time. There is a dinner break later in the evening and we will crown our first DSC champ before the night is through.
It should be a great start to the series with the crowds and money building throughout the weekend.
